Washing basics
Yamatomichi products use a wide range of functional fabrics and materials, and each one performs best when cared for properly.
Before you get started, it’s worth checking the three basic care points at the top of our Care page. They’re a good guide for choosing the right care method for each item.
How to wash
1. Close all zippers and Velcro before washing to prevent damage. Spot clean the inside first if needed.
2. Use a neutral detergent without fabric softener. Do not use bleach, as it may cause fading or discoloration.
3. Do not pour detergent directly onto the product, as this may cause staining or uneven washing. Add it through the detergent dispenser or once the machine has filled with water.
4. Use a delicate or low-agitation cycle to reduce stress on the product. Detergent residue can reduce water repellency, so rinse at least twice if your machine allows.
5. Wash separately or place in a laundry net to help prevent damage to the product and other clothing.
6. Hang dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area with the zipper and Velcro openings facing downward.
Tips on washing the inside
If the inside is dirty, spot clean it before machine washing.
Fill a bucket or bathtub with lukewarm water at around 40°C, add a small amount of neutral detergent, and mix until sudsy. Soak the product, then gently clean any dirty areas with a soft sponge.
