COMMUNITY

Yamatomichi HLC is a community that shares the joy of ultralight hiking, pursues its possibilities, and builds its culture.

Activities are carried out at eight locations, including seven across Japan and one in Taiwan, with each area managed by local ambassadors. Various programs are conducted to build richer connections between hiking, life, and community.

Director's Letter

For many hikers, their journey into ultralight hiking begins with the Yamatomichi HLC BASIC Program—only to find that, before long, those first steps lead them far beyond Japan and onto trails around the world.

Not that overseas trails are the ultimate destination. What’s remarkable is how ultralight hiking, once just a simple technique you practice, gradually sharpens the outline of a once-blurred dream. Before you know it, it becomes something enduring—something powerful enough to reshape the course of your life.

The Yamatomichi HLC community is a meeting ground for people whose lives have been deeply enriched by ultralight hiking in their own unique ways.

Even if you’re a devoted solo hiker, sharing the stories of the miles you walked alone can transform a personal journey into something even more special—something unforgettable.

And the truth is, learning the art of ultralight hiking isn’t as difficult as you might think.

So why not claim ultralight hiking as your own way of living freely?
You might just discover a whole new world unfolding beneath your feet.
